Charger Outstanding Performances and Results
Despite strong winds, the Dos Pueblos boys tennis team rode their usual stars to a 13-5 win over Santa Barbara High and a share of the Channel League title.
Miles Baldwin swept in singles, and Chris Lane and Vincent Vallano each took one set themselves. In doubles, the teams of Kellen Roberts and Ryan Rennick, Ryan and Christian Hodosy, and Andrew DeAlba and Mason Dochterman each combined to win eight total sets.
The Chargers completed an impressive 7-1 record in league play, and share the title with San Marcos. Overall, Dos Pueblos finished 11-6.
Siena Wagner went 3-for-4, leading an 11-hit Dos Pueblos attack in a 7-1 softball win over Ventura in a Channel League game on Friday.
Wagner doubled, scored two runs and drove in one as the Chargers improved to 3-2 in league and 6-9-1 overall. Nova Sinskul went 2-3 with a double and three RBI, Elly Cutcliffe was 2-3 with a RBI and freshman Allison Gasper was 2-3 with two runs and a RBI.
Allison Speshyock pitched a complete game, allowing one run on three hits. Janet Salas and Sinskul played well in their first time behind the plate this year. Harper Dunn threw out a Ventura batter at first base from right field also.
On Tuesday, The Dos Pueblos girls softball team defeated Channel League opponent Ventura 10-3. Talia Bloxham pitched a one hit game into the sixth and Allison Speshyock came in the seventh to close out the Cougars. Nova Sinskul tripled and hit a three run home run in the sixth to lead the Chargers offensively.
Dos Pueblos continued its hot hitting, belting two home runs in an 11-3 baseball rout over Buena in a Channel League game at Scott O’Leary Field on Friday.
Colter Nisbet and Josh Feldhaus homered and each drove in two runs for the Chargers, who improve to 16-8-1 overall and 5-4-1 overall.
Nisbet went 2-for-4 and Feldhaus was 2-3, while Drew Darke had a double and a RBI. Darby Naughton pitched five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out three.
Earlier in the week, Mason Boelter hit a grand slam and Dylan Kelly pitched six innings of shutout ball as the Dos Pueblos boys baseball team took down Channel League opponent Buena 10-0 on Tuesday.
Boelter’s slam powered a five run third inning that gave Kelly a comfortable cushion. Boelter also added a walk on the day. Kelly struck out six in his six innings.
Colter Nisbet, Evan Kling, Jed Donelan and Isaac Coffey all had two hits each. Dos Pueblos totaled 12 hits on the day
The Chargers have a big two-game series against San Marcos next week. The first game is Tuesday at Dos Pueblos.
